Snow Ball
As the only black-tie gala in the region, Snow Ball sponsors contribute significantly to the Auxiliary's generous pledges to the Foundation. In 2026, proceeds support the Rising Nurses Scholarship, and your WMHS Foundation was able to raise $88,500 through the kindness of our sponsors, patrons, and guests! Tour of this year's event on January 24th!

Our annual Golf Classic, now in its 30th year, offers our guests a delicious meal and auctions on the evening before the tournament. Our sponsors enjoy an unparalleled golfing experience, with gifts, games, and great memories! Through your generosity, the Foundation secures vital equipment and compassionate assistance for our patients. Plan to join us on August 20 and 21, 2026 at the Cumberland Country Club! THANKSgiving
The highlight of our Foundation calendar, President Karen Johnson moves hearts with four endearing stories that illustrate how your generosity is saving lives. Gather with your Foundation friends over a traditional Thanksgiving meal and then sit back to hear these heartwarming tales. Many say this event is the best kick-off to the season of giving. Not a dry eye in the house! This year's event will be on November 7, 2026.
Holiday Gala
Our annual holiday party gathers major donors ($10,000 and above) together with our medical staff for one special evening in December, as a way to say thank you for their commitment. This evening always fills our hearts with gratitude - just one more way we recognize the generosity of our donor family throughout the year. Our Legacy Society members enjoy this event as well!

Special Occasions
In addition to our regular events throughout the year, Foundation leadership and our major donors help us to make much of the faithful Healthcare Heroes who work at UPMC Western Maryland. In the spring, we join with UPMC to host the Pinnacle Dinner, where 12 award-winning staff members who were selected as Employees of the Month, share a special evening of celebration with their friends and family as one of these stars is named the Pinnacle award winner for the year. Your Foundation underwrites the $2,500 prize awarded for this event.

In addition, as opportunities arise to celebrate achievements across our clinical service lines, your Foundation works with department teams to coordinate a fitting recognition or learning event.
