The WMHS Auxiliary

Our vibrant WMHS Auxiliary members work together to raise funds that support our hospital system. In fact, since 2009, when the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center was built, the organization has donated over $3 million toward construction of the new hospital, cutting-edge surgical equipment, and a $1 million pledge toward the development of the Center for Hope and Healing - a transitional behavioral health unit that combats opiod addiction in the region. Additional funds support emergency and critical care and healthcare scholarships.

The Auxiliary also provides regular opportunities for learning, public relations, and volunteer opportunities.

Through monthly sales at Past Perfect Bargain Boutique, revenues from the One Dream Gift Shop, and specialty sales throughout the year, as well as sponsorships of their premiere, black-tie annual Snow Ball event, the Auxiliary is able to make generous impacts in our healthcare right here at home.

What an Impact!

As the Foundation's lead partner, here are some of the investments that our Auxiliary has been able to make:

$1Million pledge to support construction of the Center for Hope and Healing – a transitional, residential crisis resource for patients recovering from opioid and substance abuse.
State-of-the-art da Vinci Robotic System, enabling surgeons to perform minimally invasive surgery locally.
Patient Assistance Fund – assisting individuals in need with medicine, insurance co-pays, and personal needs such as utility bills.
Forensic Imaging Camera and software, to help hospital nurse examiners to accurately document physical abuse and sexual assault in patients for medical and legal needs.
Advanced Digital Mammography radiology equipment.
Vein Illuminators, Blanket Warmers, Suture Carts, and an Infant Warmer. Blood Draw Chairs for the Cancer Center.
Six annual $2,000.00 scholarships to support students enrolled in a health care curriculum.
Advanced ICU Telemetry and Software, providing critical patients with an extra layer of care and vigilantly monitoring patients when the doctor cannot be present.
Patient Closet for those who have had garments cut away in trauma or may need something to get home.

There are many ways to get involved! Your dues payment goes a long way toward our annual contributions to the hospital. But we invite you to volunteer in one of our committees or share your ideas to improve our service to UPMC Western Maryland!

Remember, all proceeds benefit UPMC Western Maryland!

Donate your time at Past Perfect Bargain Boutique, located on Winchester Road, LaVale, or donate gently used items such as clothing, housewares, and books.
Volunteer at the One Dream Gift Shop located in the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. The gift shop provides a wide range of gifts for patients as well as unique gifts and collectibles for everyone.
Serve on a Snow Ball Committee and/or attend Western Maryland’s premier annual black tie gala and the Auxiliary’s largest fundraiser. The Snow Ball Committee has carefully managed all aspects of this spectacular event since 1956.
Help out at one of our Specialty Sales held onsite throughout the year. These events feature jewelry, uniforms, handbags, electronics, and a popular $7.00 Sale.
Show appreciation for UPMC WMD staff at one of our staff appreciation events.
